On March 15, local time, the Commencement Ceremony of the Rehabilitation Project of Boali II Hydroelectric Power Plant undertaken by CGGC, a subsidiary of Energy China, was held on the project site. The president of the Central African Republic, H.E. Faustin-Archange Touadéra, has lit up the miniature model in person and announced its official launch. Over 300 guests including the Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Assembly and Minister of Planning of the Central African Republic, Chinese Ambassador to the Central African Republic,foreign ambassadors, representatives of the African Development Bank, and relevant personnel from CGGC International and the Project Department witnessed the launch of the project together with over 500 local residents.
The speech of Minister of Planning and Mayor of Boali of the Central African Republic expressed the sincere appreciation for the support from CGGC to the energy construction projects in the Central African Republic. Meanwhile, it was also hoped that CGGC would make full use of its professional and technical advantages to build the power station as soon as possible, so as to relieve the electric supply pressure in the downtown Bangui, boost local employment and benefit the local people.
The Rehabilitation Project of Boali II Hydroelectric Power Plant is the first lot of the Central African Republic - Democratic Republic of the Congo Grid Interconnection Project financed by the African Development Bank. As an essential project of the Central African Republic concerning people’s livelihood, it involves the restoration of the existing Boali II Hydroelectric Power Plant, the expansion of the powerhouse and the construction of two new units. Upon completion, the project would significantly improve the current electricity shortage situation in Bangui, the capital of the Central Africa Republic.
